Christian rock and roll fans have a new representative in the secular music world. Pillar's new album Where Do We Go From Here has exploded on to the top of the Christian charts, but also has made some waves on mainstream rock radio. Their number one song You can't bring me down is fast becoming one of the top requested songs in rock radio.
In concert, they are equally impressive. As the warmup band for the Supertones and Reliant K on tour this summer at Sixflags Over Texas, they were
in serious danger of wearing out the audience before the feature bands even got on stage. Warning: in order to attend a Pillar concert, serious headbanging may be required. (You may even want to think about doing some neck exercises before you go just to get yourself ready).
As a youth minister, this reviewer has seen the impact this group has on both Christian and non-Christians teens. Pillar is just getting warmed up,
however and we should all expect great things from them for years to come.
Dan Hurley is a graduate of Abilene Christian University with a B.A. and (soon) an M.A. in ministry studies. He currently serves as the youth minister for the Brooklyn Center Church of Christ in Minnesota.
